Corvette torque converter...

I talked to the transmission shop today and I am taking my tranny in on Tuesday and told them I would like my transmission rebuilt, a Trans-go shift kit installed and about a 2200 RPM stall torque converter put in. The guy said i could get the corvette TC for less than what they would have to order, so should I do it? Also, is there anything I should know about Corvette TCs? Thanks.

I don't think a corvette converter is much different than an F-body one, if at all. I'm not certain about this but I'd make sure you know what stall the vette one is and how much the price difference between the two is as well. Just because it came from or is made for a corvette doesn't mean it's better than something else. A corvette servo in the tranny during the rebuild would be a good idea though.

They are installing a corvette servo, I went ahead and told them to do the corvette TC too (stall is around 2000-2200), and a transgo shift kit. Thanks for the help

I hope they are not charging extra for the covette tc. My tranny guy stated that they are the same price as z28 tc. He stated he put the corvette on in, because it stall higher(2000 -2200) than a stock one for the same price.

They are not charging me extra. The first guy I talked to was the owner's brother who does not work on newer trannies like mine, and he quoted the higher price for higher stall TC.

The second guy I talked to was the one who will be doing the rebuild, and when I asked for a higher stall TC he said he would use a corvette TC and it would not cost more

If they for some reason do try to charge me I will bring that up though. Thank you for the heads up
