cooler line/trans cooler help

i'm installing my transmission cooler... i'm trying to remove the stock spring fitting (the white one in bfranker's guide). it won't come off. i've been working at it for 30 minutes now. I've tried a dremel with a cutting wheel... nothing...

and also do I need anything else? i got the hayden 1405 just like in his guide and he said he needed a barbed fitting... what is the fitting that comes in the kit? and do I just use the remainder of the hose they supplied me to use on the bottom of the cooler?

well i got it off... but i ended up just going to home depot and getting a 1/4" barbed coupler... but i have a feeling it's too small since it's been leaking a few drops. should this work ok though if I get a 3/8" coupler?

thanks!
