I went cruising last night for a while and noticed on the way to Hooters that my car would have to rev really high to start moving, like 2.5k to roll and just overall very high to go a usual speed. The only mod I have done to the transmission is a transgo shiftkit. When we got done eating the car drove fine on the way home for about 15 minutes then it started doing the same thing, granted I was beating on it quite a bit. I thought maybe it was low on fluid so I put some more in. It had to sit for a while to do this because we had to go to the store, but it worked fine after that.

I went out again tonight and it started doing the same thing after finding and cruising with a 2000 GT vert with 6 girls in it . I just brought it home about about 1:30 and parked it. I checked the fluid and there was some smeared pretty far past the full on the dipstick, but the little holes weren't filled in, which my dad taught me to go by. I didn't put anymore in becasue I came to search on here. I didn't find anything so I took it back out and it drove fine about 10 minutes ago(2:30). What could be happening?

 

get a scan tool and check for any trans codes, possibly at bad shift solenoid, i had 1 go bad after the trans would get hot, then the trans goes into limp mode and defaults to 3rd gear, you have to push the gas down very far to get the car moving, then when the trans cools down the solenoid would work again

just a guess, it could be 1 of many things seeing that the trans was just apart

go in and check the trans codes and watch the data

 

Thanks for the reply, I will try that, but just to clalify the shift kit was installed about a year ago and has been working fine until just this weekend. Last weekend I took it out racing and it worked fine.
