I'd stick with around 3200. Vigilante is the grand supreme as far as I hear. I've got a fuddle 3k stall in my mostly stock LT1 and LOVE it.

Highest safest for what? Driving every day? Drag racing? Roadracing?

The lowest RPM converter that I would ever put in an LS1 car is 3500. I've had great luck with Yanks.

Another vote for Yank here... and 3500+ for a LS1 car. I'd go with a 3600, but nothing less than a 3400-3500.

Might as well through in a TCI SFI Approved flexplate from Jegs or something like that. I say TCI only because they are only like $70 shipped.
