Converter?

Getting tranny rebuilt really soon... Just wondering if I was going to get a torque convertor if now would be the time to do it? Or does it really make a difference if I wait till later? I already have to get what I have rebuilt (Thanks to the crappy rebuild of A-1 Transmissions in the Mesquite, Tx area).

Also, if I were to get a convertor what stall should I shoot for on a mostly stock daily driven car? I have 3.73 gears, Moroso CAI, Borla, MadZ28 tune. I'd like my car to operate at a more efficient powerband than it does now. It feels like my car makes monster torque at 3,000 rpms or so as opposed to it's off idle torque (which is also really nice). I got a 13.6 ticked off with her as she sits and I am anxious to see if it's got more in it. I am sure it does, but I am still learning how to drive the snot out of it.

Any suggestions on stall speed for this LT-1? I know that many of you have done this mod to mostly stock motors and seen big results. I'd also like to see some of these gains (of course) That is why I am here asking all these rather stupid questions.

Re: Converter?

2800-3200 stall is ideal for a bolt on car..

I'm a big fan of PI Vigilante converters..

Re: Converter?

How will a higher stall (2800-3000) effect my drivability on a daily basis? Oh, and does it really matter when I do it?

Re: Converter?

Just make sure you get a tranny cooler when you add the higher stall.

Re: Converter?

Another vote for PI...Give them a call and they'll recommend a good stall speed. I run a Vig 3600 and it drives like stock until you nail it...Had it since 1996...Awesome converter.www.converter.com

Re: Converter?

One more vote for PI. 2800 should be a nice converter for you.
