conversion fittings for braided trans lines

Anyone know what fittings go in the side of a 4L60E to use braided trans lines, to convert to an AN/JIC type fitting?

I don't remember on the 4L60E, but if the fittings are the same style as on a 200-4R...

then you need a 1/2-20 to -6 AN adapter fitting, Earls part no. EAR-991946ERL (Summit, $5.95). This is an inverted flare fitting. These fittings thread into the existing case fittings on the side of the trans. This is what I'm gonna use on my GN's 200-4R.

Or you can ditch the trans case fittings altogether and use standard 1/4" NPT to -6 AN (male) adapters. Though this works too but it's usually not recommended because you risk cracking the trans case if you overtighten them and will leak. Thats because the threads in the trans case are straight and the adapter fitting is tapered.

Thats what I used on my 700R4, 1/4" pipe by -6an 45's.
But I have a friend who cracked his case doing the same thing.

I was going to do that but the threads aren't right....thats why it cracks the case
Has anyone used the quick connects? I think they come from biondo

Would it be any better to tap the holes with a 1/4 npt

I'm just wondering...I will be doing this within the next 2 weeks

Use the Earls adapters I mentioned in my first post. Screws into the existing brass fittings on the trans case so you don't need to worry about cracking the case. Then you can attach any -6 AN line to the trans....

for the best flow you must ditch the stock fittings,, why use 3/8"-an-6 lines if your fittings on the trans are still 5/16",,, makes about as much sense as using 3" exhaust then 2" tail pipe,,lol

i got my fittings from the local earl's store here in town, they fit perfect from the trans case to a -6 line

Unless you stick a pressure gage inline and compare pressure readings, I don't think it makes a difference. Lots of people run it that way with no problems. If you're using a trans cooler like B&M's the fittings are 1/2 NPT which is about -8 AN...most everyone reduces it by using a 1/2" NPT to -6AN fitting to run -6AN line.

Anyway, got a part number for the fitting you used? I have yet to find the correct straight thread fitting for the trans case.

1/4 npt to -6
Hope it helps, Also this is the clearance with a madman dipstick on a TH350

My setup is exactly like mdacton's pictured above. I've used these on two different trannys with no problems. Just don't tighten the crap out of them, they don't need to be super tight with the teflon tape.

I agree they don't need to be super tight that swhy people crack the cases.
I got them tight by hand and then only needed about 1/2 turn to get em where I wanted. I used permatex PTS with teflon.
I like those Biondo quick connects but I don't have the monet for them right now

I did some research, a 45* inverted flair does not exist, I bit the bullet today and bought SOME of what I need, AN fittings on ths car are tearing me a new one.
