Clutch/slave cylinder question

Lately I have been encountering a problem with the clutch pedal. Sometimes it engages near the top as usual and then without warning it will engage almost clear down at the bottom. Often this cause a stall if I'm taking off or a tire squeek if I'm ****ing into second. The pressure seems good on the pedal. Present clultch/plate, etc. is a Spec III and has about 6,000 on it and so far no problems with it. ALSO sometimes when I depress the clutch it comes back to the top really slow. Think it might be the master/slave??? I'm on vacation in Missouri so I need to figure something out.
thanks for your help!!

Clutch may just need bleed.

Re: Clutch/slave cylinder question

If bleeding doesn't make a difference, it's the slave. Might also do the drill mod. search for it.

Re: Clutch/slave cylinder question

Yea, since I'm so far from home I'm going to check with the Chevy garage and see if they have one and replace the master/slave. Hope that solves it.

Re: Clutch/slave cylinder question

Finally got the new install done in this 100 degree heat. New GM slave and master and it runs great. Clutch catches like it should and it shifts easily. Don't know what was wrong with the other one since it didn't use any fluid but this one works great so far.
