Clutch replacement

Just want to see if there are any parts I will need to get before starting my install. I have a new Spec flywheel, Spec Stage 4, Z06 Hydraulics. Anything else I need to buy?

Re: Clutch replacement

Only thing I can think of is make sure the clutch came with the alignment tool. My spec did but it would suck to have to make a run to the parts store in the middle of it.

Re: Clutch replacement

make sure you have some lithium grease to help the input shaft slide on, some trans fluid (incase you lose any out the back), hydrolic fluid to bleed the system, and some brake cleaner to clean the clutch, FW and PP.

make sure you have plenty of extensions and universal joint sockets

Re: Clutch replacement

OK, well got the clutch in and have a question. On my old clutch, engagement started about 4-5" from the top of the pedal. This doesn't start engaging until the last inch or so...and then goes from full open to full engaged. Is this normal? Just concerned that as the clutch wears...it will begin slipping early since it might not have that full travel.

Oh...and one other thing, I read somewhere to do some downshifting while breaking it in. I know that ABS will kick in with the low trac light ....but when I have TCS off...why would I get it during a downshift? Does the ABS system "read" my downshifts?

Re: Clutch replacement

OK...cool. Only problem I'm having now is keeping myself from mashing the gas pedal. I never ever ever get someone wanting a little race action unless I'm trying to break in a part (last one on it's break in cycle was my 12 bolt). ARGH! At least THAT was only a 100 mile break in and several heat cycles...this is 500!?!?!?!

Last night on my way to work, I had 2-3 cars try and line up on the hwy...and on the way back..same ole thing. I just had to hang my head low and let em by
