Clutch issue,, please give advice

I started up my 02 SS, put it in reverse to exit the garage and let the clutch out,,, everything was fine... put the clutch back in,,, but the car was still moving,,,,put the clutch out and the pedal was stuck to the floor and the shifter didn't want to come out of gear. Turned it off, got it into neutral. Started it back up and let it warm up in neutral. Clutch started working again fairly normally,,, but it still feels a little weird like it might get stuck to the floor again.... I just parked it in the garage for now.

Anyone know some things I should check?

check the clutch pedal linkage
pull the drivers seat all the way back, recline it all the way, lay on it upside down, and let the blood rush to your head

follow the clutch pedal all the way up, should be at least one electrical switch, and there should be a rod that connects to the pedal

if your clutch pedal pressure returned to normal as u said u may have a leak in your hydraulic system

feel the carpet by the clutch pedal, close to the firewall,
u wont be able to see the mastercylinder fromn under the hood but u can check the fluid level

and take a look under your car if any fluid is leaking, if u get a small puddle under the engine/tranny, touch it, feel it smell it, if it looks like brake fluid, smells like brake fluid and sounds like brake fluid, its probably clutch fluid

Your hydraulics are going bad. Need new master or slave cylinder. Ive never done one on an Fbody, but on Dodge trucks its much much easier to buy the assy from the dealer that comes pre blead, and full of fluid. You just bolt it in and go

Re: Clutch issue,, please give advice

i was forced to do the same on my 3rd gen

pre-bled master/slave unit is $187 plus tax and the master cyl is a bitch to get too

i changed the clutch master and slave on my friends nissan 240sx, it was soooo easy compared to my 3rd gen f-body

i wish i could buy the units seperately, it makes changing the slave alot simpler

Ok,, its been a couple of weeks and its done it a couple more times.... Its only done it in the morning when the car is cold. I go to back out of my garage and clutch gets stuck at the floor... I then can't shift to any gear after i get it in to neutral.... After I leave the engine running for a few minutes then turn the car off then on,,,, it will start working slowly getting some clutch pedal pressure back up.

When it intially got stuck I checked the reservoir and it was a little low,,, not near empty,,, maybe a bit more than half full... I refilled, and haven't noticed any leaking or low reservoir since.

Pedal always feels a bit weird and squishy now even when it works,,, when it doesn't you push it in and there is no resistance until its almost to the floor than it has normal resistance for 1 inch or so...

Is everyone pretty sure that the master/slave cyl. is the prob? The whole problem started about a week after I burnt the clutch pretty bad at a stop light,,, and that was really the first time I ever had burnt clutch smell.
Think its a clutch problem?

How hard is it to change the equipment? How much would a dealer charge?

Yes. Either the slave or master cylinders. I thought one of the other was a weak spot on the LS1's, but cant remember which.

So my auction was for the clutch master Cyl? And then there is a slave also? If I get them both together, thats when they come pre bled and easier to install? I'm kind of new at this so I really don' t know what I'm talking about

Any install write-ups?
