Clutch Install

I am going to be installing my Spec Stage 3 on wednesday and was wondering if there is anything "special" I need to worry about. I have done plenty of clutch installs but have never done one on a F bod.

Anything I need to look out for???

Re: Clutch Install

it really is not bad at all. i love the look people give me when i tell them i put a clutch in my car in a day and a half(only because had to get the flywheel machined late).lol. dont bother with that POS clutch fork bolt, just yank down on the fork and it will come loose, i figured that out the 2nd time i pulled a t56. i think Javier did too.

Re: Clutch Install

Explain what?? I am almost done with the install but I am waiting on a few minor parts. The write up that has a link to it closer to the top was very helpful. Without that I would have probably been lost.

Re: Clutch Install

The whole "yanking down on the fork"

Maybe it will be obvious to me once I'm in there.

its something really stupid, i learned it the hard way too. basically there are talking about the clutch fork, which is the lever the actuator pushes on. after you remove the actuator you will see this fork sticking out of the bellhousing/tranny on the drivers side.

visible right here in the middle of the pic

basically there is a clip on the end of the fork INSIDE the tranny. most install writeups say you have to reach in there with a wrench and unbolt it. after a half hour i hadnt got a single turn on the bolt so i yanked on it out of anger and it popped right off. so yea, that should save you some time.

Re: Clutch Install

Yeah, just pull straight down on the lever and it will pop off the throwout bearing, saving you lots of time and cussing.

Re: Clutch Install

Ya just wiggle it around till it falls off, damn thing puzzeled us for an hour. You can only pull the trans so far back w/ it still connected, and we couldnt find out why.

You don't pull down, you pull back and to the driver's side to slide it off the throw out bearing.
