clutch hydrolics questions

so i plan on putting the spec 3 i picked up in my car, its a 98 Z28, and i have a few ?'s

1) ive heard that the clutch hydrolics in 01-02 cars are better, how are they better?

2) I didnt get a new throwout bearing with the clutch should i replace that? it has almost 70K miles on it.

3) Now what is the "drill mod" and can i basically do that instead of getting all new hydrolics and still get as good of performance out of it? Also how do i got about doing the drill mod?

Thanks!!

Re: clutch hydrolics questions

I believe it is the slave that was redesigned for 01-02 cars. When installing a clutch, it just makes sense to install better stuff along with it since you will have the car apart anyway. Replacing your throwout bearing is a good idea, once again you don't want to have to open it up 10k miles down the road when it fails instead of replacing it now as a preventative measure.

The drill mod can be found at www.installuniversity.com. It didn't do **** for my car and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone since it is a real pain.

Re: clutch hydrolics questions

1.) The 01-02 hydraulics the LS6 hydraulics. A little better flowing than the earlier years.

2.)Yes...but if you bought the SPEC new, you should have received a new TO bearing with it. I would also AT LEAST replace the slave cylinder, which in fact comes with a new TO bearing on it.

3.) It's suppose to allow the fluid to travel between the M/C and the slave faster, allowing your clutch pedal to not feel like a sponge during shifts on a hard run. This article explains it VERY well:
