Clutch fork instal woes

when I pulled the tranny I just pulled the clutch fork and it slipped out , no big fuss, then when I went to put it in..........

I tried to just shove it back on and I can get the fork on the bearing but then it spring back towards the outside of the tranny, back the direction I pushed it from, like maybe that spring clip is pushing it back out? I don't know for sure what is going on.

I thought I had it once and then it sprung back out again and jammed on the case, Do I need to unscrew the bolt that the clutch fork and spring clip on the fork go on? How does the bolt fit in relation to the fork? Does the spring clip need to be under the bolt? Why could I just pull it out but I can't just push it back in?

I just put in a new spec clutch (stage 2) and an aluminum flywheel a few weeks ago. I also had some trouble with the clutch fork. The first time it went in uneasy, and got stuck when I tested it out by stepping on the clutch pedal. The second time it went in with a nice click which ment it seated right. The trick is to wiggle it around until you hear and/or feel the "click". You DO NOT have to unbolt anything to set the clutch fork. Hope this helps...

If you have the "square" throwout bearing, the fork will only engage fully on the flat sides of the bearing. Spec clutches come with the square LT4 bearing. You need to try to turn the bearing a little until the flat sides are parallel with the axis of the fork.

well I spent a good 30 min or so on it, still cant get it on, It seems like it's going on the T/O bearing fine but it wont stay pushed on the bolt.

95form - did you wiggle it around after it was pushed forward, or did you get it forward and then put the hydraulics on and when you pushed the clutch pedal then it clicked? Last time I put the hydraulics on it got stuck. I'm running out of ideas on how to get this damn thing together

I think it clicked without the hydraulics attached - it felt solid. I might of just got lucky with it I guess...

Just wanted to say that from reading this thread, I finally got our problem fixed. We could not get the fork on. We have a square throw out bearing. Turning over the engine worked.

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
