clutch chatters badly, barely get car moving

Please don't tell me this is normal clutch chatter for the first 100miles, I know better

Here's the deal, I finally got the car running and it chatters so bad, it feels like my rear end is gonna break. I remember when installing the clutch and flywheel that I torqued everything down right. Did the star pattern and even went as far as checking it over a few times. I know it's a clutch problem cause it only chatters when I'm working the clutch peddle. As soon as the clutch is fully ingaged, everything is normal. I was thinking of taking the clutch, pressure plate, and flywheel to get resurfaced. Does anyone know if clutch shops can resurface clutch and pressure plates?

I was also thinking it could be my pilot bearing. There was a small nick on the very front of the bearing but I decided just to throw the tranny in anyways since I didn't think I would have this clutch for too long anyways. But the more I think about it the more I thought, it can't be the bearing. If it were the bearing, wouldn't it shake all the time, or at least when the clutch is out?

Help me out on this one guys. This chatter is driving me insane!!

Just rev the engine higher and release the clutch more quickly. No chatter that way. BTW, do you have an LT1 in an RX7? That would be pretty interesting.

Mine does too, you just have to get it fully released much more quickly and it will be smooth as butter. I think it is because these clutches generate a lot more friction/grab that they chatter more when they are not released fully; in other words, there is no real margin between grab and don't grab. So when you are ready to take off, release the clutch VERY swiftly. No you don't have to side step it.

dude, this isn't normal clutch chatter ok? I've felt racing clutches with 4 pucks, no springs and they feel nowhere near this. My friend even has the same clutch in his TA and it chatters, doesn't kill you like mine does.

Please don't tell me this is normal

OK can't help then. I found mine quite chatters hard. I do not feel good about how hard the car shakes when I try to baby it off the line. If yours is worse. . . Good luck to you. I have no other advice.
