clunking from rear

the car has always had a vibration @75mph and over never fixed it started doing motor swap to soon got new motor in runs great still vibration @ 75mph Oh and only on deacceleration its comeing from the rear for sure. Anyways got into spanking an ls2 goat from a roll all of a sudden car has clunking over 30mph but only between 1500 to 3000 after 3000 then its gone, When I let off the gas goes away or when I put it in neautral or push the cluthch in its gone some people say the u Joints were going and now they are gone some say its the rearend I know this was not smart but I put the car on jacks and Had a buddy get it up to 35mph it was making the noise like it was hitting the torque arm but everything looked fine sounded like it was coming from rear cant be 100% cause the exaust is to loud any help please

Re: clunking from rear

It wouldn't hurt to take off the cover and look at the rear end gears. It also wouldn't hurt to check the preload by at least wiggling the drive shaft around. If you've got a 10-bolt, it wont last long.

I'm running that gm847 as well on a 355 forged. Trust me, you can beat much more than ls2's. I spanked a c6 corvette the other day. And he said he had just dynoed 407rwhp.

Re: clunking from rear

same thing just happened to me. it's the u joints. get under there and see if there's any play in the driveshaft. if there is then it's the u joints, if not it is probably the gears. just remember, never replace, always upgrade. good luck.

Re: clunking from rear

I've got home ported lt1 heads. And no, it certainly doesn't wake up until 3,000 rpms. The gears seem to be great with this setup. However, I haven't recieved my tune yet from ion. I'm sure that will completely change things.
