clunk when car downshifts
i got a 98z with an auto and when i cruise down a slight hill by my house i get a clunk when the car downshifts could i be low on fluid? i also get a clunk when it shifts to second right after taking a turn. i had it checked at the dealer and they played with it and said they felt nothing. i figured they would have checked the fluid but maybe not when they replaced the output shaft seal. any ideas

Unless it's a different type of clunk you're hearing, I have that same "clunk" in my car when it shifts too. I think it's always had it since the car was new. AFAIK, and I've heard this from other F-body owners too, it's pretty normal to have a small "clunk" sound when the car shifts.....pretty much any RWD vehicle will (my dad's 2000 GMC Sierra is the same). You gotta remember, there's a bit of play in the differential (backlash of the gears, and the axles have a bit of side-to-side freeplay) as well as both U-joints in the driveshaft, and there's probably a degree of play in the transmission itself that is normal too. Unless it's a new sound that just started, or it sounds like something is ready to fall out of the car, I'd say there's nothing wrong and it's probably just the normal play in the driveline.
