Cheap converter for a 4L60E +N2O?

Hey all, mods in sig. Next month I'm doing a Hooker catback, 3.73 gears, remote bottle opener, Hypertech+low temp stat, and some Nitto 555r's.

I'm toying with the idea of having a stall converter thrown in it at the same time, but I don't want to spend $1K for a Yank or Vigilante. Is there a less expensive lockup converter that will do a good job on a mainly street driven car? I'm looking for a stall in the 2800-3200 range (correct me if that sounds off.) Stock cam and longblock.

B&M doesn't make a Nitrous Holeshot for a 4L60E, or do I really need a nitrous converter for occasional hits? (maybe a couple a month.) Part numbers would be awesome.

last question, will an LS1 stall converter fit an Lt1?

Thanks,
Chris

You get what you pay for man. I'd stick with the good stuff.

And no, LS1 converters won't fit on an LT1 car.

Edge, Midwest, TCI make some nice budget converters.

I just bought a 3200 stall from www.westcoastconverters.com .So far it has worked well and I only paid $400.00. He was VERY fast and and great to deal with.

I really like my Edge and I would think that nitrous ready will only be $550 and this is a nice 9.5" like Vig or Yank, just does not have the overkill and heavy billet cover the others use. If you can not afford an Edge or one of the other 9.5s then save your money till you can do not waste it on a high stall 12". I would also discourage you from combining Hypertech tuning with juice, the timing it uses is very likely a bit too aggressive for nitrous and if so very bad things could happen very fast.

My boat of a car drives geat with a 2800 Edge, a friend has a 3000 in his Impala and it is looser but still drives suprizingly well.

Thanks for the tips guys, I'll check them out. Looks like TCI's TC's are all non-lockup, probably not great for a primarily street-driven car, right?

Yeah, I know that about Hypertechs, I sure hope I can use the other features without screwing with the timing. Power tuning my ****!

Cheers,
Chris

Like said earlier, you get what you pay for. Spending the big bucks on a Vigilante is going to give you exactly what you want and the quality to back it up. The converter will actually stall at the rpm' it's supposed to,you have a warranty,1 free stall change, etc. This is one area where going cheap is most definately not the best route. FYI I bought a used Vig. 3000rpm stall that was about a month old off this board for $500 bucks. Do a search in the FS section and pick up a used one.
