cheap clutch replacement

hey guys well the old clutch is finally coming out. its been in the car for 120,000 miles as far as i know. i got it at 80,000. anyways it seems like its really taken the abuse well as i am definately not an easy driver. but i havent taken it to the track or used slicks. anyways im thinking about just putting a stocker back in b/c of the price. so couple questions. where is the cheapest place to just get a replacement, and is there a slightly upgraded clutch for anywhere near the same place? thanks in advance for any help

Re: cheap clutch replacement

the centerforce dual friction goes for 550 from summit. that would be an upgrade.

96 vette had a ZF6 not a T56. Same clutch? Not sure, but doubt it.

Re: cheap clutch replacement

listen to "Jazsun" and learn, or me of course because I did it in my 97SS. When finished, it felt better than stock cause it took away my 90mph vibration, and so it was.........

Unfortionatly I dont have the part numbers, sorry...

Re: cheap clutch replacement

ok so lets get this straight. if i were to buy a clutch kit for a 96 corvette, this would provide me with an LT4 clutch that would work in my 95 transam which is a slightly better upgrade from stock? its about 60$ difference in price. is the improvement worth it? thanks for all your help guys

Re: cheap clutch replacement

Don't know what they are offering for that clutch for the '96 Vette.

I do know that if you buy the LT4 pressure plate, I have an un-used disk that I got from SLP back when they were still selling their clutch kit that I'm looking to sell for like $50.

It's still in the thermal-packaging from SLP; I bought it as a replacement disk to replace the smoked one I did, but am going with a ST instead.

Re: cheap clutch replacement

Im not positive about hte 96 vette thing, but that was what I heard in another thread. Just ask for the vette clutch kit which is the same year as your car. Should have an LT4 pressureplat w/ lt4 square t/o bearing and new clutch disk.
