Question Chaning Tranny Filter?

I am in the middle of changing the transmission filter on my '97 Firebird's 4L60E.

I scraped and pulled out the old filter's seal (small black ring), but cannot get the new one in.

Does anyone have any advice as to how to jam that seal into the transmission without smushing it?

Thanks!

Re: Chaning Tranny Filter?

Id say use the old seal ring with the new filter. I did that because it went in alot easier and was still in perfect condition.
