Centerforce Clutch and High Rpms
Centerforce Clutch and High Rpms
Shifting seems to be ok during normal driving, but when I get pass 6000 rpms I cannot shift. Anyone else have this problem and what could it be. I tried searching and some said to get flywheel balanced. Need advice thanks
quite some time ago gm high tech mag had an article on "thunder-chicken" (a 1995 trans-am) M6 with a centerforce. They changed to a Spec. The weights on a centerforce cause a problem with the 2 to 3 gear transition due to the LT1 tight design clearances in the clutch pack. With higher rpm, the weights apply additional load on the pressure plate and close the clearance so the clutch disc will not completely dis-engage. Possibly tou could find the mag article on their website. This was the reason I went with a SPEC. There are other clutch units of equal quality. Hope this helps you. B,
My CF DF would shift fine above 6500, while it lasted. Maybe you have a little air in the hydraulics, giving you a little less travel than mine and making the difference? Or maybe my clutch disk was already thin enough to give extra clearance by the time I got to shifting that high.
If you haven't figured this out yet, try bleeding it.

I have a question did you guys use your stock flywheel with the clutch to line the clutch to balance it out cause I bought a new flywheel and the clutch instructions says to line the yellow paint dab on the clutch to the x mark on the flywheel well only the stock flywheel has a x mark on it and I installed mine yesterday and i have a little vibration so now i have to take it all apart again!!!???
