carrier??

Ok, my carrier in my car is getting pretty bad. Pretty bad meaning in one tire fire. Well, my cousin gave me a carrier out of a truck that he said he thinks is for a 7.5" rearend. Now, I picked it up the other day and it is brand new, and it is an auburn style carrier. But it doesnt have the springs on the inside, just gears, like a slp carrier. How can I tell if this would work in my car and how do I tell what series carrier it is? The only thing the looks odd, is that it has little fins (cooling or something) on the opposite side of where the ring gear bolts to. The side that you would have to look at to take the ring gear bolts out. Mine doesnt have those, so what can I do??

I can't answer your question, but have you tried calling Auburn?

See, it is an auburn "style". It is actually out of a pickup truck. The carrier is definitely full posi and I would like to put it in my rearend. Can I run #'s somewhere maybe to figure out what this came out of?

My stock rear gear is 3:23's. I have the 3 series carrier. But I dont know if you can tell the difference between a 3 series and 2 series carrier by looking at them. Is there anyway to tell.

the series 3 carrier is offset to the right about a 1/4"...and the Series 2 is offset to the left about a 1/4 "..
