A week ago I steam cleaned my engine compartment, I know, mistake. My car ran just fine afterwards. I started the car after having lunch and noticed that it would not shift into 3rd gear or higher. I shut the car off and then my car would not start. After the car cooled down several hours later the car would start normally, but would not shift into 3rd gear. As soon as I shut car off the car would not restart? I have a MSD 6A that I put on the car to see if would get rid off this problem and the car runs the same. Now it has been a week and if I start the car and shut it off it runs like before, but if I mash the gas pedal all the way down to restart the car it will start with no problems, but still will not shift into 3rd gear. The wires, spark plugs, water pump, and trany mount have all been replaced recently. The only mods this car has is a stock style K&N air filter. My z has 97,000 miles with A4 tranny if this helps.I notice that my car is idling at 1200 RPM and really jerks when I put the car in gear? Is there a module or sensor that I could have damaged when I steam cleaned the engine compartment that shifts the tranny??? Thanks for looking at this post.
