Car in the air: One hub spinning slower (bearings?)
Hey guys,
I was rotating my tires the other day and i noticed my front right hub wasn't spinning as easily as the other four, and even had a bit of a grinding noise. By spinning slowly i mean it takes more effort to get it to spin, and it stops spinning sooner. This went away once i put the tire back on, but it still worried me.
So then today I went and got an alignment today, specs seem pretty good, even camber, little cross camber (1 degree more on the right side) but the car pulls torwards that slow spinning hub...
If i'm on the right side of the crest of the road, it pulls to the right, if i'm on the left side, it tracks straight.
Could this be my bearings need to be repacked? or brake contact? I had them replaced probably 3000 miles ago...
TIA, u guys rule

Re: Car in the air: One hub spinning slower (bearings?)
your bearings are non-servicable, meaning, u cant simply repack them, if the bearing/hub assembly is bad u have to replace it, check if your brake pads are dragging
Re: Car in the air: One hub spinning slower (bearings?)
hm, not what i was hoping to hear really... but i'll get out there and see if there is brake rub or what. Whats the best method? I'm thinking maybe sticking a smal piece of paper in there?
Re: Car in the air: One hub spinning slower (bearings?)
The camber has no real effect on pulling to the right. The guy who did your alignment should have put about .5 of a degree of positive caster more on the left side to compansate for the road crown. If you can find a flat road or maybe the center lane of a hwy and the car track's straight you probably don't have a problem. Look at the caster reading on the alignment printout and compare the caster from side to side, just because it is in spec does'nt meen it should'nt be tweeked a little to suite the driver's prefferance...
