Re: Can I still do 150mph with 4.10s

Hey all,
I don't drive at 150 everytime I get behind the wheels, LOL. I did that when I 1st got the car and it was stock. I'm older now with a family and a little more sense. I believe T/A Racer said it best...I would be pissed to have the horsepower/gears and couldn't hit what's on my dashboard. I just want to have a piece of mind knowing that I could IF I wanted to, not that I'd try it again. 4.10s will actually help me keep a clean driving slate that I finally have, forcing me to stay around 2k rpm which should get me 70mph +/- in 6th gear.
Basically if I can't do 150, then I'll take a bottom line of 140mph. If not, I'll put my 3.73s back in.
Thanks,

Tim

Road is closed to all traffic.Full safety gear start to finish. Ambulances, Medevac and EMT's. Running that hard on active public access highways filled with vans full of kids and blue hairs is for idiots.
Neat, but my comment was more aimed at the nuts that do it on public roads (like you mentioned).

Understood. I call them vehicular manslaughter applicants.

And props to you Shoebox -- lots of information gleaned from your web site is inside that open road racer. I thank you.

Actually South Texas. it is sanctioned by the same folks that do the Salt Flats runs.

We will be there this year - tuning for the Open Road Racing Season. Oddly enough, our goal IS 150 mph.

Re: Can I still do 150mph with 4.10s

Hey,
I do want to live and I know all the that small things can upset the balance of a car a high speeds and cause some really funky/deadly events to occur.
I'm just curious to see if it could still be done with the power that I have without n20. Going by the feedback that I'm getting, I'm guessing that it can't be done with 4.10s. My friend has a 98 LS1, so when I get the gears installed, I'll see if he will let me stay beside him until I run out of gear to see how fast the car will go. More than likely, I'll chicken out at 130-135 mph if not before then My nerves ain't what they used to be.

Take Care everyone.

Tim

What is the purpose of the LS1 pacing you?

Maybe this whole thread is just too bizarre to get my brain around it because I am lost.

Yea thats what I heard.. its not advisable to do top speed runs in 6th gear since its not very strong.

Plus your driveshaft will be spinning much faster!

I thought driveshaft speed depends on how fast the car is moving. If you had 4.11 gears and were running at 100mph, the driveshaft should be spinning fast enough turn a belt at 400mph regardless of what gear the tranny is in.

Its too bad 6th isnt strong, it'd really suck to blow a gear over 150mph with nitrous on.

Re: Can I still do 150mph with 4.10s

Thanks all,
I just got a big box from DTS, unfortunately....The ordersheet invoice says 3.42s...not 4.10s. I'll be calling DTS and sending those back Monday.
It seems that noone hardly ever gets my order right the first time, but I do understand that mistakes happen.
Andy J....I'm going to have the LS1 pace me because my speedo will be off once I have the 4.10s installed. I want to see if I like the gears before I send my pcm off to be adjusted for the gearchange. Wait a minute...I still have my Superchips Microtuner lying around, I can use it to adjust for the gear change, LOL.

Later Guys

Tim
