Can i run drag radials?

I have a 96 with some mods, it is a m6 with 4:10s it has an eaton unit in it, and it also has a rear end girdle with the bolts that push on the caps through the cover. My question is can i run 275 40 18 nittos on my vette wheels on the street without worrys. Would i have huge traction problems with good street tires that size? I just dont want to be blowing out rearends regularly. Any input appreciated thanks.

It's hit or miss. Nittos tend to not hook quite as hard as BFGs and M/Ts so you will be better off in that respect.

Hit or miss is right.

There are plenty of people on here who do it and don't have problems. There are others (like me) who destroyed their 4.10'd 10-bolt with Nitto's and "just right" conditions.

thats what i thought, would that size street tire hook up decent. I used to have an a4 93 z28 with some bolt ons and they were decent but this car has a lot more power and is a 6spd

Re: Can i run drag radials?

I'm still running the same tires Nitto DRs, 275/40R17s; and as long as they're heated propely, then they hook good for a street tire. But I have no worries now, infact I'm going try slicks this year for the first time probably now that I've got the Strange 12-bolt.
