Burning out with street tires...

I am guessing this is the right forum....mods move if you like.

I was always under the assumption that you do not need to burn out before a race on street tires, as it does jack **** to help you performance wise. Just a quick roast to get debris off the tires is all that is needed. IF this is true, then why do a lot of people burn out before a race on street tires?

hmmmm now its all confusing to me now i thought ya should as street tires are a harder compound than slicks and needed to warm up to get rubber soft for traction as and slicks all ya needed to do is get debry off i could be wrong butt i know when i launch with cold tires i spin a lot more than with warm maybe its all in my head

What You need to know is that when you do long "Flashy" burnouts on street tires it actualy makes it worse. What happens is they start to become greasy and Dont provide great tracking. On street tires, all you should do its get them spinning to Clean the tires of rocks and junk you get on the tires. Quick then simply roll out of the water box so the tires wont be wet.

With Radials/slicks. Its different. They instantly grip alot better b/c they are designed to be soft with soft sidewalls. Thats why the tread wear is so bad b/c they are very soft. What you do is heat them up with a nice good burnout b/c when you heat up a slick, it gets stickier not greasy. The compounds of the 2 different tires are different. All the Dumbies you see doing long huge burnouts on you know, "Eagle F1's" are plan Ignorant. Dont listen to Ricer boys. They still believe in "There is a Replacement for displacement." ha ha
And the sad part is Not to many of them know what that means.

Street tires are designed Not to get hot, Go soft or be stickey. So yeah your just wasting your money. Everyone is so use to seeing it all the time i think they just do it.
