budget rear - options?

I just put 4.10's in my 10-bolt and a girdle but am afraid it won't hold once i do a cam and nitrous. I also wanna be able to launch at the track without blowing the rear apart.I know there isn't anything else I can do to the stock rear to make it handle 5k dumps with a cam. I don't have 2500 to dish out for a rear and wanna know if anyone has taken rears out of other vehicles that would withstand the abuse. I was thinking maybe something along the Dana rears might hold but haven't heard anyone doing it or how hard they would be to fit under an f-body.

I just spent half the day reading on rears on 3 different fourms. For that kind of power you are going to need a bigger rear 9" or 12" (been their done that)

You can pull an old Dana or even a 12-bolt or 9inch, however you'll then have to weld in all the mounting brackets and resize the axles and tubes to fit under your car. Not an easy task

My advice, i am in the same boat as you, so i came to the decision that the BEST $$$ is going to be spent on a better/stronger rear & **** can the 10 bolt, SO, i went & made payments on a 9" Moser houseing/axle package from EPP, it'll come with caliper spacers/studs & norrowed if wanted for 1000.00 to the door, i was going to get a 3rd. member from a junkyard, then was told why put a 30 yr. old case thats weak into such a good assembly, i looked on e-bay & found NEW Strange "N" nodular 3rd. member cases for 230.00, so when all said & done, i'll be out about 1600.00 for all the parts needed, houseing/axles/bearings/studs/ drag spool/ring & pinion/pinion support, this set up will handle an EASY 600+ rwhp at all times with a good D shaft & loop, i'll only be putting 290rwhp most of the time, so in my case, the skies the limit on how low i can get the ETs with stickies & NO worries EVER out of the rear, then i'll spray 100 shot every now & then.

I decided i don't like going to the track & biteing all my nails off before each pass worring if i'll make it home, everytime i've been at the track this past month, i've seen at least 1 F body grenade there 10, most had street tires & bolt-ons only, its just a 50/50 chance i'm NOT willing to take, i love this car & it hails ***, so i won't to have fun in it, i am just as broke as you, just put EVERY dime you have untill you get a better rear, you'll be glad you did.
