Bent axle on 1998 Z28
98 Z28 with a bent axle. Took it to the shop to get a second opinion and estimate. The Axle shaft for the drivers side for a brand new OEM is $185.00 and the bearing is $30 and seal is $7. I was quoted $160 for the labor to replace the parts I ordered. Anything else that should be done or that I might be over looking?

Its easy, jack the car up, remove diff cover, remove tires/brake calipers/disks,remove c-clip retainer(small bolt on carrier), remove c-clip for side you wanna take out, remove axle, use puller for seals/bearings and reinstall in reverse order. use the bearing/seal driver to install bearings and seals, I sugest the right stuff instead of a gasket for the diff cover. If you have a torsen you do not use limited slip addative(unless you get the rusty screw noise around tight corners) If its normal limited slip(has clutches) use the addative. Good luck this is probably the easiest rear end item to change out. make sure your axle is the same size prior to reinstalling as I had an issue and needed to space out my right side brake mount by .01 so the caliper would not rub the rotor.(just check for clearance issues prior to installing wheel.
