banging noise in first under acceleration

When i accelerate from a dead stop i get this banging or popping sound from under the car. At times it sounds like its coming from right below my elbow up near the transmission and other times it sounds like its coming from farther back like near the rear axle. Ive had a few people that know about cars ride with me and they cant figure it out, when i jack the car everything seems tight. What would cause the noise? Also the harder i accelerate in first the more it pops and it also does it more if im turning while accelerating in first. Ive never heard it in any other gear other than first from a dead stop. I just bought the car a month ago and ive been driving it kinda hard so i would know by now if it was doing it in another gear.

Also the air/fuel gauge is pinned all the way on rich and smells like raw fuel when the car is idling, idk much about these cars so idk what would be causing that. Any info is greatly appreciated

My transmission was making a weird metal with metal sound off of first .. It did it for like 2 weeks then the tranny went out .. I think the mechanic said it was the drum.. It also sounded at first like it was the differential .And that was from driving it pretty hard.. Now im on my 3rd tranny and calmed down a bit..

I dont know if this is what your hearing .. I just thought i should let ya know..

nah its not a metal with metal sound, its almost like a bushing or bushings on something are loose i just dont know what would be loose that would be at the middle and rear of the car...

also one more problem along with the running rich....When is cold outside the car fires right up no problems. But if its warm, like over 75, the car wont stay running unless you give it gas for 20-30 seconds. If you feather the gas pedal for 20-30 seconds the car will start to idle better but if you dont it will keep almost dying then revving up on its own if it didnt die. IDK could that and the running rich problem be from a bad tune or no tune after the cam was installed?

I have seen where the jack is loose and bangs back and forth so check to see if anythings loose. If the tune wasn't done it could cause performance issues as well as wrong size injectors as well as many other things. Check your fuel pressure to see if its in specs.

To check fuel pressure you need to connect a fuel pressure guage to the schrader valve on the back of the fuel rail. There is a plastic cap you have to unscrew first.

The torque arm, that controls rear axle wrap up under accel and braking attaches to the tail of the transmission- check the bushing for the torque arm, and your tranny mounts-

That would be a common source- if they check out okay, look at your lower control arms-

Trans mount is broken, sometimes if you visually look at it looks fine , but if push up on the tail housing (where the driveshaft meets trans) you can actually push the trans up.

Your sig. isn't very descriptive but if exhaust includes headers the noise could very well be the exhaust y-pipe hitting the floor. Very common.
As far as the car running rich, sounds like you have a cam, headers and maybe other mods without a good tune, get it to a reputable tuner before you wash all the cylinder bores and ruin the motor. And no LS1 anything has a ''chip''. Just an FYI the Schrader valve is on the front of the drivers side fuel rail an your car.

ok i'll check the transmission mount, and get a tune as soon as i can. Guess i wont drive it or drive it as hard. And my bad about the "chip" hell idk where that came from.....The sig isnt descriptive cuz i really dont know much about the car. I bought it as is.
