Bad Transmission mount?

Something bad started happening in my firebird the other day. Every time I stand on the gas, the shifter rises 2 to 3 inches out of my console. It goes back down when I let off. The shifter is on fine. I got under the car and the rubber mount looks ripped in a couple spots. I pushed up on the crossmember and could see the trany rise up. Sound like a bad mount? Or might it be the torque arm?
