i am driving down the road and its in drive and i am going about 20mph and gun it and nothing happens it just feels like its in neutral

i hope the tranny is not shot

What do you mean by "nothing" happens? Does the engine rev up, but the car doesn't move? Or does the engine not rev at all?

If engine does rev...sounds like your tranny could be going out...or already gone. Does this happen at other speeds? When you drive, can you feel all 3 shifts?
