Just curious if this fluid is good to use in the 4L60E transmission? has anyone used this fluid in their trans?

The B&M Trick Shift is a type "F" fluid and is "not" compatable with the late design Borg Warner type of clutches that are used exclusively with the 4L60E's. Borg Warner tests show that you lose about 13-17% holding power in "dynamic" situations, (clutches and bands used that come on & off as in a shift). The reason it "appears" to improve a shift is that the clutches/band slip longer during the shift and come on all at once at the end of the shift. To improve firmness, make a shift quicker/shorter, to increase capacity, etc., a change in feed hole size (volume), accumulation (firmness, softness of the shift), increased line pressure (holding power) have to be addressed. If you are inside the transmission, then you can increase the 3-4 capacity by adding a clutch or two (Borg Warner Hi-Energy). A hi-quality oil is required to get the durability required. You "do not" want to do this (increasing firmness) by changing to a different type of oil.

Good info. A quick question though. Is Valvoline Dextron III considered to be a good "hi-quality" oil?

And I'm moving this to the drivetrain forum.

My tranny builder told me to use plain dexron III in the performance tranny he built for me.
Works great so far.
