axle question

Ok so basically I'm lookin to build my 10 bolt, i know everyones gonna say just buy the 12. but I wanna keep my car "factory stock". now can I just buy some hardened axles and it'll hold up a bit? or do I have to go new everything inside too? I want something that can hold an ET Street with a stall basically tryin to get the car to hook full throttle off of the stall.

your fighting a losing battle.. But for the sake of research Go for it! Moser Sell's a stout axle for the 10 bolt.. That along w/a decent LSD and a good set of gear's.. Nothing bigger than a 3.73 as the 4.10's tend to be really weak in comparison.. and a Rear end girdle should Keep ya on the straight and narrow.. W/ a A4 car you should be pretty good w/ that.. A4's tend to be softer on the rear's..

Both Moser and Strange sell hardened axles for the 10 bolt. There are a few other things you'll want to do to strenghten the rear. Get a stronger posi and stronger gears. Like stated above, stay away from 4.10s. Use a solid pinion spacer rather than a crush sleeve to prevent any movement. Install a stud kit. Weld the axles tubes to the pumpkin. The most important thing would be to have your suspension built to minimize axle hop. That's what will really kill you.
