auto tranny and rear be able to hold almost 400 HP and TQ?

Thats the question im really wondering right now. Will a 4L60E tranny be able to hold up to a 400 hp motor IF not raced on a track with slicks and beat the hell out of? same with the rear end?

Reason why i ask this question is im installing a LT1 into my truck and was wondering if i should hold off on bagging the truck until i beef the rear or will it be fine as long as i dont race it and **** which iw ont be. it will mainly be for show.

you'll be totally fine, as long as you don't race it. But I guarantee you will get the urge. But a few stomps shouldn't hurt

ill be running mostly street tires so alot of spinning will be happening. I know ill get the urge to but i wont ALL the time. As long as i basically put a tranny cooler on the A4 will do fine?

Another question. Ive heard these engines can go for a long ways but what about under power?

GM rates the 4L60E to 400 engine torque, and the Borg warner T-56 to 450 engine torque.

I've heard the BW T-56 is significantly stronger than the ratings, but the 4L60E is pretty accurate.

I don't know about the LS1's Tremec T-56.

what rear end is in that truck? if its the 7.5" (they are smaller ring gears then out fbodys 7 5/8"), definatly dont put sticky tires on it. it wont last long at all. if its the 8.5" rear, then go ahead and run the snot out of it. it'll take whatever you can throw at it w/that kind of power. as for the trans, you should be good to go. a cooler is a must since you will have cooling issues anyways (s10 right?). best bet for longevity would be remote trans cooler w/remote fan like a 12" cooler fan. w/that you can mount the cooler anywhere you want, at any angle. but the fan will always have to be on.

I've had the tranny rebuilt twice (3-4 upshift clutch) and am on second set of 3.73 gears, broken pinon teeth. Not track driven, just street loved
