auto tranny "kick shift"

recently bought a '97 Z convert with auto trans. the previous owner had a "kick shift" put on it. Does anyone know how it works? also, the speedo read 55 when the car is doing 67. has this been affected by the kick shift unit?

He was most likely refering to a shift kit rather than a kick shift although I think I heard someone refer to as that once.

I'm not sure about the wrong speedo, I wouldn't think the shift kit would cause a problem with it. Is it just at 67 that the speedo is off or does the speedo seem to be off through all of the rpm's? Could be a result of a gear change/swap without informing the PCM of the change.
