auto or manual
ive already had an auto z28 but was stupid and sold the car, and have been looking for another lt1 car for awhile now, but most of the cars i have found have been 6-speeds. Any opinions on both of them would be great, i know a beginner question, but ive never owned a manual before, thanks for the help

I bought my 97 and I had never driven a manual before that. Probably not the best car to learn on but now that I have I love the manual. It seems like most people perfer the M6 (Manual 6 speed) but the auto has its upside. Nothing like banging gears though.
Unfortunatley I will probably be switching my trans to a TH400 later this year.

I always choose an auto. I think a well-built auto with a good stall
speed converter has it over a manual, especially when you have a
hottie sitting in the pillion - you get to pay closer attention to her

Depends on your priorities. For comfortable, carefree rides and touching babes while roaring down the street, auto is the way to go.
For cheaper performance (don't need to tweak it, shift kits, stall) and more control, M6.
My camaro is M6, and i often miss the sweet relaxation of flooring it and not bothering about what gear I'm in... There's no definite choice, it's completely relative to your driving style.

m6 for cruising the back roads with or without the girl If you need an auto to feel her up you dont gots da skillzzz. Try feelin her up, cup of coffee in hand and still driving the car.
stalled auto for pure drag racing fun, autos suck in the twisties.

You will have a lot more fun in town with a 6 speed... I love my M6 even on the highway, my Z only runs like 1900rpm at 70mph in 6th... preeetty sweeeeet
There is a simple solution to that... where i come from we call it "back roads"

Now look at the M6s running 12.0s. Look at there trap speed.
The manuals are a lot higher, so the autos go faster with less power. Meaning with the same power, the auto will be faster.
The fastest LT1s ARE AUTOs. Sure when the cars are fairly stock the Manual will be faster, but when you start putting real power down, the manual starts to lose.
On a highway, however, the manual is still king. But ET wise there is no beating a stalled auto.

Proudly sporting a built 4L60E with a cheap vette stall and LOOOVE it, and i dont even have a good name brand stall yet! For the "fun driving", a manual has it hands down. If you want to go racing, a stalled auto is naaaaasty. Autos cant drift? mine is set up to bang into 2nd and bust the tires lose under 3/4 throttle but will shift like a trailer queen under light throttle. It takes no time to shift between gears and sure the manual can hold a 2nd or 3rd gear burnout, my trans will shift from 1 - 2 during a burnout and keep going! When u have the right setup, put the right power down, an auto is just as "fun", easier to drive, and will spank almost annnny manual off the line. IMO
As stated before, its all about how YOU want to drive, thats where you'll find ur answer.
