O.K. here is the deal. I have a 1994 Z28 Camaro with the 4L60E transmission. I just bought this car this week. I bought it knowing that the only gears that worked were 1st & 2nd & reverse. This transmission was "pro" rebuilt (local shop) a little over a year ago. It was rebuilt stock. Just after the tranny warranty ran out it lost 3-4 gear. It trys to go into 3rd but just free wheels, 1st, 2nd, & reverse work perfectly. As a matter of a fact I drove the car home 150 miles with just 1st and 2nd gears (with 3.73's) with no trouble. I asked a local tranny man about fixing the problem and he said it does not matter that 1st, 2nd, & reverse work fine the whole thing still needs rebuilt, well I no longer have faith in the local tranny guys after the last one did not build the tranny correctly. So here is the deal/questions. I personally would love to find somone to put "my" parts in my transmission for me. I want to use all high end parts and I want to know thats what is going into it. The tranny is out of the car and cleaned up very nicely. I need opinions on the parts I have been looking at that are suposed to be the best. What would you charge to rebuild my tranny with all the parts supplied? Is that the best way to do it? Should I just have faith & let you work your magic with your parts? Should I buy all the parts and have a local shop install them? At least let me know what you think about the parts.

What would it cost me to drop my tranny only off and have your parts and skills bestowed upon it?
I will be doing some drag racing but thats not my main plan for the car. I have a few basic bolt-ons and I plan on adding 125HP shot of Zex nitrous, I also have plans later this year for a complete 383 stroker swap. Please tell me whats the best way to go? Help.

 

visit www.ckperformance.com. stage 2 4l60e page.the parts you have are not really used by us,because better results can be obtained with different combinations of parts.our units use the 4l65e 5 pinion front and rear planets,our heat treated reaction tube and heavy duty input drum as well as many other items not available elsewhere.

 

WoW, thats a really nice transmission. Only problem is its exactly $1 less then what I paid for my whole car with all the mods installed! I could never spend $2000 on a transmission. Man im up a nasty creek. Guess I should have got a six speed.

 

As far as your problem with no 3/4 gear it prolly cuz your sprag which shifts over to 3/4 is broke or not functioning.

 

I thought 3-4 bands burning up was a common problem. This is the first I have heard of of the sprag.

Oh yeah his prices are damn good to. I think that the sonnax parts a pretty good and as for the band you wanted you may want to look into the wide band.
