Anyone running a 3000 stall with a 10-bolt ???

hey guys . I was wondering if anyone was running a 3000 stall converter on the stock 10 bolt and was wonder how it is holding up ??? Im getting ready to have my tranny built and a TCI Super Street 3000 stall put in my stockers place. Was wondering if theres any chance in hell my 10-bolt would hold up at the track ??? Im running 3.73's (just rebuilt the rearend) and am on Fulda Extremo 275/40/17 rubbers. Think it will hold ???

p.s. gonna start saving for a 12 bolt after the tranny install .

There are guys running into the 10's on the stock 10-bolt. Considering it's behind an automatic, you've got better odds of it holding together longer than if you were running a 6-speed. For street/strip use, you should be OK. If you want to race the car every week, then maybe you should beef up the rear somehow.

I had a 3500 stall in a stock ten bolt in my 77 nova. It ran 12.0's at the track with slicks. I have since sold the car and a buddy is about to start racing it with a pretty potent small block and a shot of nitro. I will let u know how it holds up

Re: Anyone running a 3000 stall with a 10-bolt ???

I have a 3k stall on my stock 10 bolt. Not a single problem. Like Pete said since your 10 bolt is behind an auto there's a lower chance of it breaking. When you stall up your car the suspension is already placed under a load. So when you launch it doesn't get nearly the sudden impact vs launching with a 6spd. A 10 bolt has a definate possibility of lasting a very long time behind an automatic, but again like with any of these F-bodies it's a crap shoot. Yes some people are running 10's on the stocker, also some people break it on a bone stock car the first time they do a hard launch. I think you'll be just fine though.

LOL with those Fulda's I don't think ANYTHING can break! I cut 2.5 60' times on those bad boys! Seriously, worst traction I've ever had with a tire....

really ??? last time at the track I was cuttin 2.0X 60 ft.'s with them at the 1/8th down here. They catch pretty good on my car which is why I was asking , was doing a 15mph roll and floored it and it planted the rear and snapped my stock gears apart (90k miles). It was whining at the time from me and a friend putting a new pinion bearing in it about 10k miles previous. This time me and a buddy assembled the rear and I paid a pro to dial it in and do the backlash and stuff , its quiet now.

Re: Anyone running a 3000 stall with a 10-bolt ???

i just picked up a Hughes 3000 stall a few weeks ago and it totally killed traction from a stop. running stock 10 bolt and i hope it doesnt give up on me when i go back to the track w/ LT's, gears, chip, and e/t streets. i want to see how much time the stall cut off my 1/4 and 60ft, but i really want to beat this guy w/ a 98' H/C bolt-on mustang that runs 13.3's. he really owned me last time we raced...my 14.7 to his 13.3....then he kinda laughed at me like my car was a POS compared to his stang. really ticked me off, but i'll show him what a bolt-on LT1 will do come winter. if you want your 10 bolt to last just do what i do.....say a little prayer before you launch it at the track and hope GOD heard you. like they said before its a hit or miss with these rear ends, some last others just give up. good thing your gonna start saving for a 12 bolt, cuz thats exactly what im doing too

If you want a little cheap insurance get a TA rear end girdle.
I run a TCI 2800 stall and 3.73s with Nitto drag radials and no problems with the rear. I don,t see why a properly set up gear set with a TA girdle behind an auto would not live a decent life.
The 5500 RPM clutch drops are what usually kill the ten bolts.

3000 stall and pulling mid 1.6's with no problems. Aiming for lower 1.5's here soon. Times/mods in sig.

Don't worry, you won't get enough traction to break the rear. Start saving for some M/T ET Drag Radials.
