Anyone here with S60 expirence?
Hey guys does anyone here have the Strange S60 rear, if so what are your thoughts on it? I'm picking up a 97SS next weekend and I'll be modding it slowly and ultimately I'm going to build a turbo motor for it and I only want to do the rear once. Also I want to use the Spohn torque arm for long tubes, will I run into any fitment issue with the S60 because the Spohn ad says " will fit stock, 12 bolt & 9" rears"?
Well I bit the bullet today and ordered my Strange S60 from SpeedInc and it will be here in 3 weeks. I'll let everyone know how everything fits and works out.

Hey Firebirdstud I was looking at the pics of your car and man our setups are exactly the same, I have the Strano springs, Konis and swaybars plus the UMI tubular upper & lower a-arms, SLP weldin sfcs and the same Spohn torque arm with the J&M tubular lcas, relocation brackets and panhard bar. And I just ordered the S60 and I have a 383 being built right now plus I have all the parts to build a stout 4l65e. What kind of times does your car run?
well, the major difference I see is my car is a daily driver... I have stock ride height to compensate for my spohn torque arm being bent down for my long tube y pipe and then, and also I need the extra room for my slp triangulated sub-frame connectors and my electric exhaust cut-out. I already bottom out over some speed bumps, so no lowering for me. But, with that said, yeah we are similar. I obviously dont have the relo brackets for the rear cuz my geometry is still intact.
But, Im still looking for a double adjustable panhard bar. Just one of those things I didn't see putting money into... yet. But now seeing how my car is kinda fast, I corner hard and those big *** tires do a little grinding away at the metal on the inside of the fender wells on the rear. lol.
Anywho, with my 385 I put down 438 rwhp. Now, with that kind of power, as you can expect, the bitch wont hook for ****. So, I just bought some new GSD3's all the way around, and those will be installed come tuesday.
Im still rollin on the stock rear, so no drag time on this motor yet. I only race from a roll, for fear that my motor will spit out the rear like nothing if I goose her from a standstill... hence why I am watching this thread with high hopes!
What is the drivetrain setup? t-56? What gears did you settle on? Which posi or did you go spool? I would like to know the exact rear you bought, from what vendor... and such. Thanks man!

My car is also a daily driver street car with an a4 which will be rebuilt with all of the billet parts, 13 vane pump, .500 boost valve, transgo shift kit, Midwest 2800 stall, big B&M transcooler and I'm thinking about getting the Rossler transbrake. The guys at LS1 Speed didn't send in the order for my rear until 3 weeks after I ordered it from them and I found this out when I called Strange to find out the status of my order so it won't be shipping out until 10/22/07. I ordered it with 3.73's, super strength true trac posi, aluminum rear cover and 3 channel abs plus I ordered the cm direct fit hd driveshaft. Right now my car is in the shop getting all of the other suspension and brakes installed then when the rear arrives, I'll have that installed. Hopefully the engine will be done by the end of November or beginning of December. I'm hoping for similar hp/tq numbers to yours and if that happens I think my car should run mid 11's.
The car is back in the shop having the trans rebuilt, after they finished the suspension and rear, I picked it up and drove it over the course of the weekend and the trans died on my way to work the following Monday so I took the car back to the shop 2 weeks ago. But the rear is fine, I'm still breaking it in but it doesn't seem noisy or anything but I'll have a better idea once I get the car back. I also took the opportunity to send my pcm to Madtuner to have it custom tuned for the 3.73's and other mods I have now. I did this to protect the trans because I believe that part of the contributing factors to the trans dying is the fact that the previous owner had installed 3.73's but never got the computer programmed and because of the gear change the pcm didn't know when to upshift and downshift.
haha yes it is j0n. How is that damn rear?? I really, really want a dana 60, but Im so affraid to commit due to the issues with whining and core shifting... I need some evidence that maybe they got their sh*t together!
Well I got the car back from the shop today and man oh man the tranny is straight now! The tranny was completely rebuilt by a local shop with all of the bells and whistles plus I added a Midwest 2800 stall, Hurst Quarter stick shifter, B&M super cooler with fan and MadZ tune. Now the car shifts quick and firm however I can't really beat on the car yet I still have to complete the breakin of my gears ( another 150 miles then drain the fluid remove the cover and spray everything down liberally with brake cleaner and refill with fluid). But so far nothing out of the ordinary some gear whine but that's to be expected until I complete the break in plus the stock rear had 3.73's in it which were broken in and they had a whine to them as well. But I'll keep you guys posted, I will say it's very nice to have piece of mind knowing the Dana 60 is back there and I don't have to worry about blowing it up.
