any good clutches besides mcleod?
last year i put a spec stage 3 clutch and steel flywheel in my car. needless to say i cant stand it anymore!!! it chatters like crazy all the time and it is no fun to drive!!!! i would like to buy another clutch but at the time i dont have money for the mcleod street twin. are there any other reasonably priced clutches that could handle about 350 rwhp and maybe nitrous on occasion. thanks for any info!!!

Your Spec stage 3 still chatters after a year of driving it? I have had my Spec stage 3 for less than 2,000 miles and it gets smoother every day. It no longer chatters, mine was annoying for like the first 1,000 miles...but now that its broke in its great. It's still ultra grabby, but very easy to drive wit hno chatter. Did you break in the clutch before you started beating on it?

i still havent beat on it yet! my last spec clutch was great, i did the proper break in on both too. from what ive been reading i think i may try to get a slp disc. theres no point in replacing the pressure plate since it only has 1500 miles on it. does anyone know of any other companys that sell just discs?

McCleod sells just discs. That is weird about your clutch but not uncommon i guess, for every person that likes there Spec there are just as many that dislike them. I think you can buy the discs from GM as well.

i have 25k on mine now, and they are some pretty hard miles and the clutch still holds up fine everyday

I know you want experience with that clutch. But if its a dual kevlar disc, and with your trap speeds, I don't think it will last long if you race it. I'd call slp to see what the disc is made of. I am going to put in my 5th disc and 4th pressure plate after my rebuild. Just my opinion.

I am putting a new Spec Stage 3 disc in with the old Spec Stage 3 pressure plate. I've got too much invested and the rebuild of my motor is costing more then planned, or if I could do it, I would get a street twin. I made it a couple years with my stage 3. It still had a little life in it. Today I had my input shaft seal replaced. If that is leaking, it is pretty easy after watching the guy replace it. Easier then it looks in the books. I'm on my 5th clutch. hehe

yeah i had an old spec stage 3 kevlar before the new one and i loved it!! the only thing that sucked is that it only lasted 15,000 miles! i need to find a new disc that isnt gonna wear out fast and can handle power im making.

is the disk that you have in there now carbon? Mine chattered pretty bad for about a year then calmed down. Holds like a mother too with my measily 360rwhp and a 100 shot. I was pretty annoyed for a while but now I'm glad I stuck it out and gave time to calm down.
break-in....what's that? I'm sure there could be a whole discussion on that topic. You do want to seat the disk to the PP before you really beat on it but that's pretty much taken care of in a day.
