Re: aluminum flywheel

Depends on the application. Alum. flywheels are for cars set up for autoX, in that the lighter flywheel will make the car rev quicker between gears/shifts but you lose on the low end in the 60ft. The steel/billet flywheels are supposed to help lowend because of the momentum it takes to turn the heavier flywheel gets used on the launch. I got the spec steel flywheel when i replaced my clutch and i havent noticed any difference. granted i havent taken it to the track to see but if it did help anything it mighta only been a 1/10th if that. Ive heard of guys using alum. flywheels for their turbo setup to " hit their boost quicker" but in a stock car i dont see a need. you can use the $300-800 dollars for that flywheel on a mod that you will notice i.e. headers, intake, exhaust, depending on whats done to the car IMO. hope that helps but you should do a search if you still need help. Anyone else correct me if im wrong but thats how I understood it.

Re: aluminum flywheel

As stated above, the aluminum flywheel will allow the engine to rev quicker but you loose the stored energy that comes from the heavier flywheel at launch. This can cause the engine to bog when the clutch is released.
