I have a SPEC stage 3 clutch and SLP billet flywheel in my car and I am just just now getting around to driving her and boy let me tell you, this clutch is a whole different monster compared to my SLP clutch.(LT1 stlye). I actualy do not like how it feels. Its either all or nothing when you take off. There is absolutly no riding of the clutch or smooth ingagement at all. Have any of you guys noticed clutch chatter at all with new SPEC clutches or the drivibility issues I am having? Will it go away with time or is the majority of my problem coming from the SLP flywheel. SPEC says that their LT1 stlye steel flywheel will give me better drivalitly. How?

There is nothing wrong with your clutch. Your clutch is responding in exactly the way it is suppose to. Welcome to the world of performance parts. A stock clutch is designed for driveability, not power. Your SPEC is designed to hold HP. In order to do that the clutch is designed to grab immediatly. If the clutch can be slipped, it won't hold up to high HP. As far as chatter, my buddy's SPEC 5 has horrible chatter, but it holds 500+ hp on slicks. Such is the nature of the beast. As far as the steel flywheel, it is heavier and will transfer the torque of the engine better. If you had a lighter flywheel it would be harder to take off. You want the steel flywheel.

Hope all that helps.

It will go away a little bit, but reverse will ALWAYS chatter. After a couple weeks of driving it you'll find that perfect spot where it takes off normally. Mine has almost 20,000 miles on it, and for over the last year it's developed a chirping noise upon initial take-off. It hasn't hurt anything.

... that's why I went back to an LS6 clutch. My Spec stage III was an on/off switch!
