aack another speedbump on my way to discbrakes! Give a chick a break!
Well I have all my stuff for the swap! But I can't figure out how to pull the axles out. My chilton's book says to remove the retainer bolt, but it doesn't have any bolt head? whats up with that? I know I have to take it out so I can remove the 2 gear thing and push the axle in to get the clips. But how do I remove that pesky shaft? Grrrrrrr
Thanks guys!

You will need to rotate the carrier with the gears in it until you find a little bolt head about a 3/8 if I remember correctly. If you done find one on the carrier then it sheared off and you have bigger problems then just the brakes.

I saw a small'sh bolt head on the end of the carrier. But it looks like its more around 3/16 instead of 3/8? Its very small in my opinion. And which area is it in? near the big gear, or towards the passengers side? The one im talking about is near the pasengers side and is on the "snout'sh" part right before the 2 bolt cap!

edit!
I see the one your talking about, it looks like it goes into and holds down the 2 gear shaft. So when I take that bolt out, will the shaft and gears just pop out? <--sorry playing around with the forum features.

That is correct, its on the passanger side on the side and it holds that big metal pin that is about 1" in diameter from sliding out. Loosen that bolt and that large rod will slide out, you can push on it then rotate the wheels 180 degrees until you can take out on the rest of the way by pulling it out the other side. After you do this there will be a few C clips that removing that pin will reveal, you need to push the axles in to give slack on the c clips and they will come out by finger or a magnet. The axles will then slides out.

The bolt is tiny, you cant even take it out all the way before it starts to hit the carrier, do not remove the bolts that hold the posi down!
