A4 Shifting Very Hard

For the last month or so, my car has been shifting almost violently on the 1-2 shift. Until the car warms up, the shifts feel very sharp and cause the whole car to shake/jump. It feels like there is absolutely no "slip" in the shift whatsoever. I checked the tranny fluid level and it was quite low. Filled it back up to a normal level, but the car is still shifting like that until it is driven for a bit. The car does have a mild shift kit, but i had no problems with it until about a month ago. Any solutions?

I have heard that this is an indication of burnt bands. Change the fluid and filter and see if it improves.....

Re: A4 Shifting Very Hard

It could be a broken accumulator spring.

Re: A4 Shifting Very Hard

Have it scanned for trouble codes. Most transmission codes don't light the SES and numerous DTCs will cause the computer to force maximum line pressure. Sometimes if you keep driving it this way, you will cause more damage to the transmission.
