A4 output line to cooler

What kind of pressure is there in the output line from the 4L60E to the radiator?

Can I cut into the rubber section on the molded line and put a barbed Tee with hose clamps there or will this not hold the pressure?

I'm installing a transmission temperature gauge and want to put the sensor in this place.

Thanks for help.

Not sure exactly where you're talking about, but don't see why not, the stock setup goes from metal to hose near the front of the radiator, and I used barbed fittings/clamps to install my tranny cooler.

I used non barbed metal tubing and mine came off a month later. Now I used a barbed tubing and it works great. Youll be fine

I used barbed brass fittings on my cooler lines. Checked it today, and all seems to be well.

Re: A4 output line to cooler

Thanks everyone! I have a Tee fitting and two sizes of the barbed connectors ready to go. I have assembled the sensor into the Tee. Can anyone remember the size of the barbed connectors? The steel part of the line is 5/16 inch.

When I cut the hose section of the molded line to insert the barbed connectors, is there much fluid flow to contend with? I'm just trying to be prepared if things don't go smoothly once the small section out of the rubber is cut away before I can get the fittings in place. Here's some pictures to explain what I have, where I'm cutting. Thanks.

Re: A4 output line to cooler

I used both 3/8" barbs and 1/4" barbs. IIRC the cooler lines for the transmission are 1/4" and my home made lines to the aftermarket cooler were 3/8". I made some huge connector piece since nobody makes a 1/4" to 3/8" barb.

edit: I did not put a temp sensor in.

So, if I'm just tapping into the transmission line rubber section in the picture above, I should use the 1/4" barbs? That would be the ones marked 47081?

Thanks
