A4 going out? Please advise..
History - 94 Z28 83,000 miles, Transgo stage 3 and tranny cooler at 52,000 miles. Computer reprogrammed for shift kit. All bolt-on's.
Today, I went WOT, and something weird happened. When it was supposed to shift into second, it slipped really bad. I had to let out of it for it to shift. When the tranny finally engaged 2nd, it squealed for a second. I knew what happened, so I layed off the car for the rest of the drive. Part throttle shifts seemed normal.
After running my to the doctors office, I got in to go home. Again, everything was ok with normal driving. So, I wanted to be sure that what happened earlier was repeatable. I turned a corner, floored it, and it slipped in first gear this time, shifted to second and slipped also, then squealed when I let out of the gas. Now part throttle shifts are very, very firm!
Upon getting home, I checked the fluid level. It was a little past full, and the fluid was very clean and light pink. No burnt smell YET!
So am I in for a rebuild? If so, where is the best deal on a rebuilt one online? Or is that not the best solution? This car is used to just get me to work and back now days because the drag strip here sucks *****. So I don't need anything extravagant. Just a factory rebuild with design problems fixed.

Re: A4 going out? Please advise..
The same stuff is happening to mine,my tranny expert told me on the phone that it could be the solenoids.
I am going to change the fluid and filter and check the pan for clutch material.
He also suggested getting the codes read, sometimes they are hidden
