!996 Camaro SS trans ?'s

Alright so im am supposed to be going pick up a 96 Camaro ss with the 6 speed i think t56, if i'm not mistaken on the number. The only thing wrong with it is the syncros will eventually need to be changed. I live close to Baton Rouge, La and i was wondering if anyone knew a place around there that could fix this problem. I know where Thunder Racing is and i'm going to give them a call but i figured they would want more than a regular shop.

Thanks
Chris

Yup it's a T56. Did you test drive it? Can you describe whats wrong with that? That way we can give you a good idea if it's the syncros or not? I'd take it to a Transmission shop, butt the cheapest way would be to have a friend pull the transmission with you and take the transmission to a transmission shop and have it rebuilt.

I agree with Eric. I'd pull it with a friend and take it and have it rebuilt. When they rebuild it i'd recomend replacing the brass keys with Steel keys.

We have specific forums for specific topics. This one belongs in "Drivetrain", so I'll move it there for you. "LT1 Based Engine Tech" is only for questions about the engine.

sorry, new to this forum. Well i picked it up today and the only gears that grind are 3rd and 4th. when you shift it grinds a small buit and goes straight in, i can still shift in one smooth motion but it has just a small grind going in.
