Question 98 TA gear question

Hello all,

I'm looking at a 98 Trans Am, and waswondering what gears it is equipped with, so I email Pontiac with the VIN, and they said 2.73 gears. I was surprised, because I thought that if an automatic car had the slection for 1st gear, they did not have 2.73's?? Is there much difference in a 2.73 eqipped LS1 compared to say 3.23?

Re: 98 TA gear question

2.73 is a great highway gear, great for fuel economy. My car turned 1800 RPM at 70 MPH.

The 3.23 cars will get off the line and accelerate quicker though.

I went with 3.42s and turn 2200-ish at 70 MPH.
