98+ 7.5" carrier the strongest made?

Had a guy at a tranny shop tell me I shouldn't get a 12 bolt and just fix my stock rear. According to him I should spend $800 on billet gears and buy better axles and I would have a stronger rear. He said the carrier is the strongest design by far. He even says he has a guy that will buy my broken rear(pieces of ring and pinion gone). Anyone else heard anything like this?

I'd sell the dude your stuff as fast as you can, lol. the 7.5" 10 bolt is a piece of ****. period. I broke mine getting on the freeway with street tires.

It can't be made strong enough to hold any power.

I agree sell him your stuff.

But I disagree with the last statement. It can hold plenty of power in an automatic trans car. Not uncommon to see them running 11s.

But not with a stick or transbrake.

you made the right move getting a 12 bolt. tell the guy at the tranny shop to put his money where his mouth is. Even if you spent money on cryo-ing everything, it probably still wouldn't be as strong, and the 12 bolt is cheaper.
