94 z28 4l60e

I have a 1994 z28 camaro I just had new clutches and band put in so all the transmission fluid was drain I installed it and added new fluid it wont shift in to gear when I try to put it in gear the motor idles down like it going in gear but nothing else happens. When I added the fluid before start up it was full then I warmed the car up and the level has not changed. Am I doing something wrong? I checked the fluid level its full. Please help!

If the car wont move at all ,like physically try to push it in neutral, then you might have too long of a bolt in the middle of the vb.
just a thought ...i had ran into this before

If the car wont move at all . Unhook a cooler line and start car if no fluid sprays out you broke the pump during installation , Was the converter fully seated in trans before you bolted trans to car?

I did unhook the lines and started the car there was no fluid coming out ****. Does that really mean the pump is broke? Could there be another explanation? I did not fill the TC up I put maybe a quirt of TF in.

I had the engine out and bolted the TC to the flexplate first then slid the Trans on.

The correct way to install the trans is to fully seat the converter in the trans and then bolt the trans to the engine.

...And you may need to shim the converter away from the flexplate in order to maintain proper pump engagment.
