Just bought a 82' iroc car is in great shape but the auto tranny is hammered. Bought a rebuilt metric, but it doesnt match up in any way at all. So that is up for sale now (cheap) my question is... can i swap in a 4l60E? If i can what mods do i need to do or am i just better off swapping in another 3 speed?

 

There were no 82 IROCs. The IROC name did not come into existance until 1985.

You cannot put a 4L60E in since they are electronically controlled by the PCM. You would need the PCM, harness, and some other stuff that I don't know to get it to work.

It would be way easier to have someone rebuild the one you have now, and probably cheaper.

If you want to buy used, buy an 87-92 TH700R4.

 

Ok well i screwed up on the name badge. It is an 82 Z28. Minor issue. But thanksfor the help/suggestion. I can pick up a re built th 200 for $500 and change but like i said i would like somethign stronger.
